Audition Information
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Volunteer Voices for 2019-2020. Volunteer Voices is an elite ensemble in the Arlington ISD that performs Popular music from many eras in an a cappella style. In the last several years, the Volunteer Voices have been awarded numerous awards and accolades from judges, students, and school administrations across the state.
Students selected for the Volunteer Voices will serve as Ambassadors for the Bowie Choral Department and Bowie High School. Therefore, in addition to excellent musicianship and creativity, it is expected that they will conduct themselves in a manner that respects the organization, the school, and themselves. Behavior and grades should never be an issue. Extreme dedication and preparation is required, and all members of the group must be present at all practices and performances.
As an ensemble of 9-15 students chosen out of the Bowie Chorale, each member of Volunteer Voices must be able to fit two choir classes in his or her schedule. It is expected that the students chosen for this ensemble will be the vocal and behavioral leaders of the department. Along with the Choir Officers, the Volunteer Voices will be expected to take point as volunteers and leaders, and support choir activities throughout the year with their time and ideas.
Auditions for Volunteer Voices will be held on Monday, May 20, 3:00, with callbacks on Tuesday, May 21, 3:00, if needed. You will prepare a 30 second clip of a song - American Idol style. Mrs. Dickerson and I are looking for strong musicians, but also for students that have stage presence, so make your 30 second audition count! You will also need to learn your voice part on the song selection posted at www.volunteervoices.bowiechoir.com. You will sing the song selection in groups, giving us an idea of how you blend, act, and react with other students.
